The web visualizations associated with various datasets are hosted externally but accessible by clicking on the links below.

The mountain area by climatic belt and human population by climatic belt visualizations show some of the data generated for and used in the Körner et al (2016) (PDF, 1.5 MB) publication. These interactive doughnut chart were created by Davnah Payne using d3js adapted from Mike Bostocks' example The area data is available for unrestricted download. The human population data are currently available on request.
How to read: the bar chart on the left shows the area (103 km2) of mountain terrain and the human population (Mio people) inhabiting mountains for the selected mountain polygon. The doughnut graphs represent the same area and human population but within the 7 climatic belts described in Körner et al (2011) (PDF, 2.0 MB).
